The Cubs girls played a better game at West Marshall 10 on Friday. They lost to the Trojans 49-35 and dropped 1-2 in the conference to a total score of 3-3.

Here is what we learned from a busy week in Nevada:

On Friday, the Cubs broke two losses in a decisive manner.

After a quarter, Nevada rose by 7. By halftime, the Cubs extended their lead to 38-19 after an explosive 25 points in the second quarter.

The rebound on Friday night is Nevada's biggest advantage. The Cubs completely surpassed the Trojans in rebounding, leading them with a score of 52-24, including 18-5 on offensive rebounds.

In addition to the huge advantage in the second chance point, Nevada's shooting percentage is 45%, and West Marshall's shooting percentage is controlled at 32%.

James Edwards had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Carson Rhodes contributed a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds for Nevada in the victory. Ty Dittmer and Spencer Grant both contributed 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

When the Cubs were defeated by the Nordics, Colin Memmer played another grand game in Story City.

Memer scored a game-high 21 points after hitting six three-pointers. He lost 6 3-pointers from the bench 60-56 in the Roland story last season and scored 22 points.

"He made some big goals," Nevada coach Taylor Struck said. "Especially in the second half-he did a better job of getting the game to come to him."

Sophomore Jacob Khounsourath also played a wonderful game for Nevada. He finished with 13 points.

Ty Dittmer had 5 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Rhodes had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, and Spencer Grant had 5 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

Jonovan Wilkinson and Isaiah Naylor both scored 14 points, and Will Bunn added 13 points for Roland-Story. Wilkinson also grabbed 9 rebounds.

The Nevada boys suffered their first defeat of the season against Iowa Falls Alden. The Cubs tied the score after three quarters with a score of 32-32 in the defensive battle, but the cadets found some offensive rhythm in due course and took the lead.

Nevada's shooting percentage is only 35%, and 19 turnovers in the loss. The student's shooting percentage was 43%.

Grant scored 11 points and 3 steals, and Memer scored 9 points. Dittmer had 8 rebounds and 3 assists, Edwards had 6 points and 8 rebounds, and Rhode had 6 points and 9 rebounds.

Blake Janssen scored a game-high 17 points, and Andrew Bicknese contributed 16 points for IFA.

The Nevada Girls defeated Prairie City-Monroe 58-20 and beat Iowa Falls-Alden dramatically. They fell behind 21-19 at halftime, equalized after three quarters, and completed enough to beat the students in the last eight minutes.

Nevada's shooting percentage is only 34%, and only 6 of 24 three-pointers. But the Cubs made 21 turnovers and controlled IFA's hit rate at 36%.

Shelbi Hazlitt had 12 points and 5 rebounds, and Maddie Dunham had 7 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Tessa Borwick also scored 7 points.

Nevada's solid balance just offset IFA's Ella Sharar's 23 points.

Roland-Story put too much defensive pressure on Nevada on December 7. The Cubs trailed 35-7 at halftime because the Nordics ended the game early.

For the Cubs, this game looks terrible. But coach Jordan Bentley said that they know they are a much better team than the team that played against Roland on the pitch, and there are eight seniors on the list, he believes they will turn things around soon. .

"We have to play like a team with eight seniors," Bentley said. "We just need to refocus, understand the situation of the several teams we know, and be mentally prepared. We have senior leadership to continue to catch up. This is just the mental focus."

Dunham leads Nevada with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Hazlitt scored 5 points and Hannah Waldera scored 5 points off the bench.

Madi Bauer led Roland-Story's balanced offense with 14 points.

On Friday, Nevada had to face the second-ranked 3A team in the center of the state.

After the sluggish performance against Roland-Story, the Cubs played much better against West Marshall, especially after the first quarter.

The Cubs looked like a team that still lost Roland-Story against West Marshall in the first quarter. Entering the second quarter, they trailed 16-2.

But by the end of halftime, the Cubs had found their way. They equalized 10 points after three-quarters, and eventually killed the Trojan even in the final three-pointers.

Hazlitt had 12 points and 7 rebounds in the Nevada game against West Marshall. Alexander Arnold had 10 points and 4 assists.

Katy Reyerson had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks for West Marshall.
