Here, we invite the designers to take selfies, so that we can learn more about their lives.

Age: more than 20 years old.

Hometown: I live in London now, but I am from Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Describe your work: After working for Cartier and other luxury brands for ten years and exploring sculpture through jewelry, I started to create practical life works. In 2016, I founded Bohinc Studio to explore furniture and object design. My design practice is rooted in a deep respect for the principles of traditional craftsmanship, drawing on my knowledge of industrial technology, and combining modern style and function. Materials are very important to our design. Each of our works is made of various natural materials, including stone, glass, ceramics, wood, wool and mainly metal.

The most important thing you have designed so far: every project I have worked on is important for many different reasons. In 2017, I was commissioned by the Kensington and Chelsea committees to create a friendship bench for the London Gorburn Forum. In 2017, I participated in a residency project in Wajima, Japan, where I collaborated with a small group of painters and craftsmen to create works, which were exhibited at Gallery Fumi at the London Design Festival the following year.

I am also fortunate to work with some incredible brands. In 2018, I designed a series called "From Sun to Moon" for Swedish carpet manufacturer Kasthall. The series was shortlisted for the 2019 NYCxDesign Awards. In January of this year, I designed the Moonrise series for Brooklyn lighting company Roll & Hill.

Describe the problem that your work solves: Our design aims to rekindle the enthusiasm for traditional craftsmanship and enhance these technologies through innovative technologies. I believe this important combination of technologies will not only help the community, but also the environment.

Our work combines innovation and craftsmanship, combining modern industrial technologies such as laser and water jet cutting, CNC milling, spark erosion, and computer modeling with ancient craftsmanship in metal forming, glass blowing, ceramic casting, and lacquer making . We only work with small handicraft workshops in Europe, where the team is treated fairly and respectfully, and only responsible production practices are used.

Describe the project you are currently working on: This week, I will show my new work "Afternoon Tea" as part of the Miami/Antique Project. This is my first solo exhibition in the United States. I designed "Afternoon Tea" at the beginning of the pandemic, sometimes very lonely and uncertain. I miss the company of my family and friends, and I realize that I want to create works that make you feel loved, surrounded and happy. I also want to make works that look delicious enough. These new works are shaped into functional fantasy, inspired by the sweet tactile ritual of "afternoon tea", hence the name of the exhibition and the main body of the work. From December 1st to 5th, at booth C08, we will exhibit five pieces of the afternoon tea series: Profiterole table, Kipferl table, pastry table, afternoon chair and kissing armchair.

A new or upcoming project we should know: Once we return from Miami, we will continue our work to launch a new collection at Milan Design Week next spring.

What your studio absolutely must have: my cat! I have four cats and they like to come to the studio. They are very beautiful, very cute, and create a wonderful atmosphere. In addition, there are English soy milk breakfast tea and non-stop NTS broadcast.

What do you do when you are not working: live a life! I spend time with my family and friends, I see inspiring works of art and music, I take a bath, I exercise, I cook, I meditate, I laugh, and I have a great time.

The source of creative jealousy: Marianne Brandt's silver teapot for the Bauhaus. I hope I designed it myself.

The distraction you want to eliminate: news. I read the news every morning, but I'm not sure how it is good for me.
